Primarily in the field of VAT, Anita Machin Barroso has more than ten years of experience in tax consulting.
Anita Machin Barroso studied law at the University of Lucerne. During her master’s degrees she specialized in tax law and wrote her Master thesis on the distinctions between tax planning, tax avoidance and tax evasion.
As a tax adviser she worked for nearly nine years on a range of tax matters concerning legal entities and individuals in a fiduciary company which is part of an international fiduciary group specialized in SMEs. As Head of the VAT department she was responsible for numerous foreign companies from various industries which were obliged to pay VAT in Switzerland. Furthermore, it was her responsibility to assess all services in terms of VAT, raise awareness among clients within the framework of client-specific training courses in the field of VAT, and to assess special issues with regard to national VAT law.
Anita Machin Barroso is a specialist in indirect taxes. Her key activities include the evaluation of supplies in terms of VAT, the assessment of special issues with regard to national and international VAT law as well as the support for taxable companies with their VAT compliance. She does not only have a very good knowledge of Swiss VAT law, but she is also familiar with EU VAT and customs law. Besides that, she publish regularly in various tax journals as well as newsletters and lectures VAT at the Swiss Fiduciary School.
